politics
04-16-03 - 8:36 p.m.
Well, I suppose I should write something. This isn't quite the once-every-couple-of-days it was. Since I last wrote, we've had a whole war. I don't know what I think about it. Obviously it's good that the Iraqis are free from their dictator, but still I have reservations. I've been listening to lots of talk radio, as I have for quite a while, but I seem to be more addicted to it than before. I think it started when I began going home for lunch and listening to Rush Limbaugh. My parents think he's arrogant, which he is, but I think he's funny. This has led to my paying attention to more of the political world. I've had a peripheral interest in politics in the past, mainly international politics, but now it's moving more towards center stage. Along with that goes history, which usually bores me to death. But I've been listening to David Horowitz's The Politics of Bad Faith on tape, which has gotten me interested in Marx and the history of communism and totalitarianism in general. So I'm rereading Animal Farm, which I like especially because it is a classic yet is easy to read. And lurking in the shadows, since normal history and politics aren't quite intriguing enough, is my perennial interest in conspiracy theories. I bought The Unseen Hand by Ralph Epperson last week, and it has been quite enjoyable (not that I necessarily believe it). A glimpse into how my mind works. One thing leads to another, books are read (or started at least), and for some reason I like to keep track of the process, which is how I could write this paragraph. In other news, I bought some pens from OfficeMax today, but I don't like them, so I'm going to try to return them. And in still other news, I met googly girl this weekend. Happy. :)
