A couple of nights ago I was taking a walk, and I heard band music coming from a house across the street. It was a march. I thought it was odd that someone would be cranking up a march on their stereo. Then a couple of streets down I heard it coming from another house, and I realized it was a real band playing outside somewhere. So I followed it to see what it was. I kept walking and walking and walking, and by the time I found it, I had gone halfway across the city. It was a Wheaton Municipal Band concert. I didn't even know Wheaton had a municipal band, but I guess most places do. There were a lot of people there, mostly older. I stuck around for the last song, listened to the director talk for a while, and then went back. It made me happy, even though it wasn't really my kind of music. I often think that I want to play in a city band someday. I sometimes miss playing the French horn. It even pops up in some of my dreams.

Yes, I'm finally getting around to writing something so I can put my website up. When I've gotten enough together to make visiting the site worthwhile, I'll buy web space and set it all up, and you can visit it. In fact, you'll have to visit it because I'm going to move this diary to the site, at which point it will become a weblog.
