it's kinda fun once you get into it

My job hunt continues. Crossway is taking forever to get back to me, if they will at all, so I'm forgetting about them. This weekend I wrote to a bunch of publishers to see if they were hiring, and today I heard from my editor friend that there would probably be another opening at her publisher sometime, and she also was going to try to connect me with a freelance project. So that was pretty exciting.

I discovered this weekend that one of my goals in life is to edit with IVP. That's InterVarsity Press, for those of you who are out of the loop. They had a book table at the Wheaton theology conference, and I bought about eight books there. They were 50% off. This was when I realized I like them better than all those other publishers. WELL ... tonight I went to a discussion on postmodern Christianity that my friend Mike was leading, and two of the people there worked at IVP! And after the discussion had ended one of them started a conversation with me! And then the other one walked up and joined us! The first guy worked in sales, and the other guy was an editor. So I told him I was looking into editing and asked him about freelancing (I knew from their website that they didn't have any openings for regular editing jobs). So he gave me their managing editor's information and said he would talk to her! Maybe my newfound dream will come true. :)

On another note, my dormant Star Trek fanaticism has reawakened, and now I'm waiting impatiently for the administrators at TrekBBS to approve my account so I can participate! I mean, I could post anonymously, but that's not very fun.
